Problem skin? Your skin's natural layer of protection may not be working

Let's face it; you would like to have better skin. You're not alone. More than 85% of Canadians have problem prone skin ranging from red, irritated, dry, itchy, flaky skin, to more sensitive skin disorders such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and rosacea. Keeping your skin clean, moisturized and healthy looking is a big concern.

Many skin problems are caused by damage to the moisture skin barrier - the top layer of skin that keeps moisture in, and chemicals, dirt and bacteria out. When that natural barrier is disturbed, precious water can escape and dirt, bacteria and cosmetics can enter and irritate sensitive skin. When water escapes, your skin feels dry, tight and rough. If you have compromised skin, then you have a more delicate barrier than others.

Spectro's unique deep cleansing helps protect your skin's natural moisture barrier.
We can help. Spectro® skin cleansers are designed to be effective, yet gentle and less irritating to compromised and problem prone skin. The difference is that Spectro® cleansers provide deep cleansing - something not too many other gentle cleansers can do - while helping to protect and restore the delicate balance of your skin.

Is your facial cleanser doing more harm than good?
Many facial cleansers are not gentle on the skin's protective moisture barrier. Once disrupted, it can take up to 8 hours for your skin to restore the damaged moisture barrier. For people with already compromised skin, that's 8 hours of dirt and bacteria attacking your already sensitive skin, and 8 hours of partial moisture loss.

Here's how regular cleansers work. Most skin cleansers are made up of ingredients that clean your skin called surfactants. The most common surfactants used in bar soaps and liquid cleansers are sodium-based which clean by disrupting the skin's natural moisture barrier.

Many companies add moisturizers to their bar soaps and liquid cleansers to combat the drying effect of sodium-based surfactants however, the damage may have already been done. Your skin may feel softer but it's still losing moisture - for up to 8 hours - until your skin's protective barrier is restored.

The Science of Spectro®
Spectro® cleansers are different. They do not contain sodium-based ingredients. Instead, they use a special silicone class of surfactants that don't clog pores and are among the least irritating of all surfactants. Spectro® cleansers penetrate the pores and gently surround and lift bacteria, dirt, excess oil and make-up away from the skin for easy removal by wiping or rinsing.

Spectro® cleansers contain a blend of moisturizers that help restore water to the skin and stop more water from being lost. They also help revitalize the damaged protective barrier and make your skin feel soft and satiny smooth.

What is not in Spectro® is also important
Spectro® cleansers don't contain foaming ingredients that are harsh on your skin. They also don't contain dyes or other irritating ingredients.

Saving face with Spectro® cleansers
It is important to use Spectro cleansers as directed to get the best results.

When to use Spectro®...
Use everyday in the morning and at night. In the morning to remove dead skin and bacteria, and in the evening to remove dirt, oil and makeup providing hydration to skin.

Use Spectro® for 30 seconds...
Apply Spectro® cleansers on wet or dry skin. It is important to gently rub in a circular motion for 30 seconds to maximize the removal of dead skin cells, oil, dirt, makeup and bacteria. Then rinse away Spectro with warm (not hot) water or wipe it off with a tissue. Use Spectro™ exclusively...

Do not use any other cleansers while using Spectro®, like soap for example, as they may decrease the effectiveness of Spectro cleansers. You need to use Spectro cleansers for 2-3 weeks to see if Spectro cleansers will help improve the texture and tone of your skin, giving you healthy looking skin you can see and feel. Discontinue use if redness or irritation occurs.

Use Spectro® before applying topical medications...

Before using a topical prescription or non-prescription product, like an acne lotion, it is important to prepare your skin to get the best results. If your skin barrier is disrupted, topical medications can cause irritation and may work less effectively.
